FRENCH RIVIERA

If you are considering the French Riviera there are a selection of airports to choose from. The largest airport which serves the region is Nice (NCE).
The airport has private VIP terminals and substantial facilities to accommodate pretty much any type of private aircraft. In peak times, the airport can, however, become congested, so slot restrictions can be a regular occurrence and our advice would always give as much notification as you can.

If you are staying west of Nice, there are other choices or airports to consider: Cannes (CEQ), Toulon (TLN), Marseilles (MRS) and St Tropez (LTT). Be aware however that St Tropez has the shortest runway of them all, and there are certain restrictions on aircraft types that can commercially operate to/from the airport. Cannes airport also has limitations on certain aircraft, mainly subject to weather conditions.

Looking a little further south, the Balearic Islands remain a popular choice this year – mainly Palma de Mallorca (PMI) and Ibiza (IBZ). Short notice requests may be subject to slot departure times, so as we suggest it is always advisable to book early to enable us to submit landing and aircraft parking requests with the authority, at the time of your choosing.

PORTUGAL
FARO

An increasingly popular destination from the UK is Faro (FAO), the capital of southern Portugal’s Algarve region. Steeped in history, the city’s neoclassical Arco da Vila is on the site of a gate that was part of the original Moorish wall, and nearby is the beautiful Faro Cathedral.

There is a selection of private VIP handling agents at Faro airport, so arrival and departure processes are very streamlined. With a long runway, the airport can accommodate most private aircraft charter requests, but Very Light Jets (VLJs) may struggle to commercially operate this route directly from the UK. Our recommendation would be to consider a Light Jet or bigger.
