MIDSIZED JET
CESSNA
CITATION LATITUDE
SEATS UP TO 8 PASSENGERS
When market trends were leading people away from the traditional Midsized Jet category (such as the Hawker 900XP), the Citation Latitude, launched in 2015, had a mission to bring those clients back.
In contrast to its smaller family member, the Citation XLS/Ascend, this aircraft has a flat floor with larger and wider cabin seats, therefore better overall comfort, perhaps more important for longer 3+ hour flights. The Latitude also provides larger windows, which increase the amount of ambient light in the cabin and provides a fantastic view from the air.
Overall we think Cessna has done a good job here and some may even say that the Latitude is perhaps at the upper classification of a Midsized Jet, potentially even a Super Midsized? However, with all the choices available in the Citation family, and cost differences, the Citation XLS should not be ruled out, especially for shorter journeys or with a smaller number of passengers.
As a nod to the majority of customers who prefer a little more privacy in flight and the ability to self-serve, this aircraft cabin is designed with a forward refreshment centre (instead of a fully enclosed galley on the Hawker 900 series). Therefore a cabin attendant is optional on this aircraft, depending on the specific operator.
In comparison to older models such as the Hawker 900, costs will be higher but we think the increased space in the cabin, flat floor and better luggage allowances could make it worth it.
Earlier Citation models, such as the Citation Sovereign and Citation X, are likely to cost less, but with more options on the market as well as the depreciation, in fact the Citation Latitude could well dominate the Midsized Jet category.
