The Half-Term Empty Leg Schedule: Your Shortcut to the Slopes and Cities

If you're reading this and haven't finalised Half Term plans yet, you're either admirably spontaneous or you've been waiting for the right opportunity to land. Either way, you're in luck. We've just released our February Half Term Empty Leg schedule, fifteen repositioning flights departing between now and the 14th, covering everything from last-minute ski transfers to long-weekend city breaks. These aren't standby seats on scheduled carriers or makeshift charters. They're the same aircraft, crew and service standards you'd expect from a full private charter, priced at a fraction of the cost because the plane needs to reposition anyway.

If your travel dates are flexible and one of these routes aligns with your plans, this may be the most sensible way to fly private this month.

What is an Empty Leg, and Why Does it Matter?

An Empty Leg occurs when a Private Jet completes a charter and needs to return to base, or move to another airport for its next booking. Rather than fly empty, operators make these repositioning flights available at reduced rates, typically 50–75% below standard charter pricing.

The aircraft itself is unchanged. You're flying on the same Gulfstream G-500, Citation Sovereign, or Global 7500 that would otherwise cost five figures for a round trip. The difference is that the operator has already secured revenue on the outbound leg, so they can afford to offer the return at a lower margin.

There are trade-offs. Departure times are fixed and routes can't be adjusted. If the primary charter cancels or reschedules, the Empty Leg disappears with it. But if your timing is flexible, and frankly, Half Term is one of the few weeks when it can be, these flights represent exceptional value.

This Week's Schedule: Ski Resorts and City Escapes

We've divided the schedule into two categories: alpine destinations (ideal if you're heading to the slopes) and city breaks (for those who prefer galleries, Michelin stars and cobblestones to black runs).

Alpine Routes

If you're planning a ski trip, several of these Empty Legs serve airports within an hour's drive of major resorts:

City Break Routes

If skiing isn't on the agenda, we've got several Empty Legs serving Europe's cultural capitals:

Safety Standards and Service Guarantees

Every operator in this schedule is Argus Gold or Wyvern Wingman/Registered certified, which means they've passed third-party safety audits covering maintenance, pilot training, and operational procedures. All aircraft are 2004 models or newer, with full maintenance histories and current certifications.

You'll have a dedicated Account Manager from the moment you enquire to the moment you land. That includes pre-flight catering preferences, ground transport coordination, pet travel arrangements (yes, we handle that frequently), and any last-minute route adjustments if the Empty Leg schedule shifts.

We don't publish pricing on Empty Legs because rates depend on passenger count, baggage requirements, and how close to departure you're booking. But as a guideline, these flights typically represent 60-70% savings compared to a standard charter on the same route.

How to Secure an Empty Leg

If one of these routes aligns with your plans, the process is straightforward:

  1. Contact your Account Manager (or message us directly if you're not yet a client) with your preferred route, date, and passenger count.

  2. We'll confirm live availability and provide a quote within the hour.

  3. If you'd like to proceed, we'll hold the aircraft with a deposit and send confirmation details.

  4. You'll receive pre-flight briefing documents 24 hours before departure, including FBO details, security procedures and catering options.

Empty Legs move quickly, particularly during peak travel weeks like Half Term. If you're considering one of these flights, we'd recommend reaching out today rather than tomorrow.

You can view our full aircraft guide here if you'd like more detail on cabin layouts, range specifications, or baggage capacity. And if you've not flown privately before, our post on common booking mistakes may be worth a quick read before you commit.

Otherwise, we'll see you on the tarmac.
